Broad, powerful, self-assured: you first become aware of the Touareg’s strong character from its dominant front. The vertical grille blends into the headlights, with chrome strips extending outwards from the central Volkswagen badge over the headlight lenses. The elongated bonnet boasts clean lines, giving the vehicle its sporty appearance.
No one likes a "dazzler"
Apart from their basic function as dipped and main beams, specific single LED segments can be switched on and off using matrix technology to create a wealth of light distributions, depending on the different driving situations.
Oncoming vehicles and vehicles ahead are detected by a camera when you’re driving with main beam. Certain LED segments are controlled to enable you to permanently drive with main beam, without dazzling other road users. When you are approaching a road sign, for instance, the segment that illuminates the road sign will be reduced to prevent you from being dazzled by the reflection from the road sign.
The cockpit of the future
For the very first time in a Volkswagen, the digital instrument cluster, also known as the Digital Cockpit, is located with the screen of the Infotainment system behind a curved display, the driver-orientated Innovision Cockpit. This system offers maximum user-friendliness, as it can be operated by touch, voice and gesture control, without the need for mechanical switches, controls and buttons. The huge screen surface is used to display a wealth of functions using appealing graphics and animations. You can even customise the home screen with photos and your favourite function. Many displays can be enlarged using the zoom display, something that was not possible with conventional speedometers and screens.
There are also apps for your Touareg
There’s an app for everything. And many for the Touareg. App-Connect with Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay™ and MirrorLink® connects your smartphone to the Infotainment system in your vehicle. Once connected, selected apps on your mobile phone can be operated using the large touchscreen in the Touareg.
Volkswagen Media Control for Android and iOS can also involve your passengers, as they can remotely control the Infotainment system from a smartphone or tablet. So now music channels can be conveniently selected or navigation destinations transferred from your address book – even from the rear seats.
Air suspension
Air suspension ensures you enjoy ultimate driving comfort on every trip, adapting the height of the car to the terrain, with a choice of Normal, Comfort, Off-road and Special Off-road driving profiles. Your Touareg can also be raised to give you 70mm more ground clearance or lowered to make loading and unloading easier.
