| Dynamic Automatic Brake Release functionThe dynamic automatic brake release function on the new Passat and Passat Estate makes starting off more convenient for the driver. That means that the driver can simply drive off without first having to release the parking brake. This is also particularly helpful when is comes to hill-starts. Passat models with manual gearboxes have a clutch sensor to ensure that the car starts off as smoothly as possible. This analyses the operation of the clutch and ensures the optimum response by the system. All it takes to set the Passat in motion is to press the accelerator and release the clutch. In the case of models with automatic transmission, the driver just presses the accelerator. From the technical perspective, the control unit for the electronic parking brake analyses the signals relating to engine torque and speed, angle of incline and accelerator/clutch position, in order to determine the ideal point at which to release the brake. |
